At Katool Automotive Equipment, we want to make sure your order arrives safely and smoothly. Some large equipment ships by freight truck, and depending on your location and unloading setup, certain delivery services may come with additional carrier-imposed fees.
This article explains what those fees mean, when they apply, and how we handle them.
Why Do These Fees Exist?
Freight carriers charge extra when extra equipment or handling is required to deliver your order.
These are not Katool fees — they come directly from the shipping carrier to ensure your delivery can be completed safely and efficiently.
Liftgate Service
If your delivery location does not have a forklift or loading dock, you’ll need liftgate service.
A liftgate is a mechanical platform on the back of the freight truck that lowers your equipment safely to the ground.
The carrier charges a small additional fee for this service.
If you do have a forklift or dock available, no liftgate fee is necessary.
We’ll always confirm with you before shipment whether you’ll need this service so there are no surprises.
Residential Delivery
If your order is being delivered to a home, farm, or any non-commercial address, the carrier classifies it as residential — even if you run a business there.
Because residential areas often require smaller trucks or special scheduling, the carrier adds a residential delivery fee.
If your order ships to a commercial address with a forklift or dock, there are no extra charges.
When Katool Covers or Discounts Fees
We know shipping costs can add up, and we do our best to keep them low.
In certain situations, we may cover or discount liftgate or residential fees:
Service Delays or Issues – If there was a delay, damage, or error on our end, we’ll often cover the fee as a courtesy.
High-Value or Repeat Customers – Long-time or large-order customers may qualify for a waived or discounted fee.
Competitive Price Match – If you’ve found a similar product elsewhere that includes free delivery, talk to us — we’ll do our best to match or adjust.
Marketplace Orders
Some platforms (like Amazon or Temu) automatically include liftgate service in the shipping price.
If you purchased through one of those platforms, you won’t be charged anything extra for liftgate service.
What to Expect After You Order
Once your order is placed:
A Katool representative will contact you to verify your delivery details.
We’ll confirm if your address is commercial or residential and whether you have a forklift.
If liftgate or residential service is needed, we’ll explain the carrier’s fee before shipment so you can approve or adjust as needed.
You’ll receive tracking within 2–3 business days, and the carrier will call to schedule delivery when your shipment arrives at the local terminal.
