This guide will help you when the lift continues rising instead of lowering when the DOWN button is pressed.
These steps apply to most KATOOL scissor lift models.
If at any point you feel unsure or need help, our Technical Support team is here for you.
I’ve also included a visual flowchart, to see which electrical components must be checked.
⚠️ Customer Complaint
“My scissor lift keeps rising when I press the DOWN button.”
This issue will be caused by:
●The built-in timer relay delay
●A misadjusted or defective timer relay
●A loss of power during operation
●Defective Wiring
Follow the steps below in order:
Step 0 — Restore Power (If Lights or Power Were Lost)
Refer to this step if, at any point, you lose power during operation or troubleshooting.
A lift repeatedly trying to rise to its maximum height may blow the transformer fuse.
Check the transformer fuse
1.Open the control box
2.Locate the spare fuse
3.Replace the transformer fuse (Refer to the visual flowchart, if needed)
✔️ If power is restored
Resume troubleshooting at the step you were on (1, 2, or 3).
❌ If power does NOT restore
Proceed to Step 6.
Step 1 — Hold the DOWN Button
Press and hold the DOWN button for several seconds.
Why?
The lift uses a factory-set timer relay (1.5 seconds).
When pressing DOWN:
1.The platform rises slightly to allow the locks to release
2.After the delay, the lift should begin lowering
❌ If the lift keeps rising
Proceed to Step 2.
⚡ If power is lost during this step
Return to Step 0 – Restore Power.
After power returns, resume from the step you were on.
Step 2 — Check the Timer Relay (Should Be Set to 1.5s)
Locate the timer relay on top of the control panel. Verify the setting is 1.5 seconds.
✔️ If the setting is NOT correct
Adjust it to 1.5s — this should resolve the issue.
❌ If the relay is already set to 1.5s and the lift still rises
Proceed to Step 3.
Step 3 — Manual Test (Hold DOWN + LOCK Together)
Press and hold BOTH the DOWN and LOCK buttons at the same time.
✔️ If the lift lowers
This confirms the timer relay is defective.
What we need from you
Please let us know that the lift lowered using this method.
We cannot request a replacement timer relay from our parts department until this is confirmed.
Temporary Solution
Until the replacement timer relay arrives, continue using DOWN + LOCK to lower the lift.
❌ If the lift does not lower and the pump keeps running
Proceed to Step 4
Step 4 — X90E Only (Disconnect #1 Wire)
If you have an X90E, disconnect the top-left #1 wire from the DOWN button.
(Use the wiring image in this article for reference.)
Then test the DOWN function again.
✔️ If the lift lowers
This is used as a temporary solution to continue using the lift. Please report that you have gotten to this step and we will arrange a replacement timer relay. You have confirmed that it is defective.
❌ If not
Proceed to the final step.
Step 5 — Report back to KATOOL Technical Support
If none of the above steps resolved the issue, the lift may have a deeper electrical fault.
Our support team will assist you directly.
