Error Codes 001 and 002 both relate to issues with the photoelectric sensor, which reads the rotations of the balancer’s wheel shaft. Most problems can be traced to wheel installation errors, shaft looseness, or sensor misalignment.
Step 1: Check the Wheel Installation and Shaft Tightness
Why This Matters
Error 002: Often triggered when the photoelectric sensor receives faulty or inconsistent readings—commonly due to loose shaft components or incorrect wheel mounting.
Error 001: Typically indicates the sensor is too far from the shaft wheel to read properly. A common sign is the shaft spinning unusually long, and once it finally stops, the machine displays Error 001.
Actions:
Ensure the threaded shaft (where the quick-release nut attaches) is firmly tightened.
Install the wheel with the outside face pointing away from the machine.
Confirm the wheel is mounted using the correct-size cone for the hub bore.
👉 If either error persists, continue to Step 2.
Step 2: Inspect the Photoelectric Sensor
If adjusting the wheel and shaft setup does not resolve Error 001 or 002, the photoelectric sensor may be misaligned, dirty, loose, or obstructed.
Actions:
Carefully remove the top cover of the wheel balancer.
Locate the photoelectric sensor and inspect it for:
Physical damage
Loose or shifted positioning
Dust or debris buildup
Clean the sensor area using compressed air and a microfiber towel to remove dust and debris.
Check alignment:
The sensor should sit directly above the shaft wheel.
Proper spacing is only a few millimeters of clearance.
If the sensor is positioned too high, gently press it downward until it sits just above the shaft wheel with the correct clearance.
Important Note
A sensor that is too far away will cause Error 001, while a sensor that is misaligned or intermittently reading rotation will cause Error 002. Proper seating and alignment are essential to resolving these issues.
